As the Pew Research team analyzed the communication between online daters they found that individuals who owned cell phones and used online dating sites were the most likely to use sexting as a way of communication.Of those engaged in online dating, 55 percent said they had received sexy images from others, while 31 percent admitted to having sent at least one.The study revealed which individuals were the most likely to sext and compared that data to a study conducted the year before.With online dating individuals from across the world can link up via screen and keyboard and end up happily ever after.The study’s finding that 18- to 24-year-olds are the most likely to receive sexts is not surprising.Pick-up lines have given way to conversations on a screen for the younger generation.Statistics about long-time married couples revealed similar results, implying that couples who had been together longer were less likely to sext.It’s been decades since love messages were penned with, well… Lovers these days don’t have to wait for more than a few seconds to receive notes of affection, and fingers sometimes move more rapidly than sensibility. The survey claims that the rise in smart phone purchases has contributed to the culture of sexting.

As the use of online dating increases, so goes sexting.

The survey reported that online daters were the most likely to say that technology had an impact on their relationship when compared to smart phone owners, individuals who don’t own a cell phone, social media users and non-social media users, as well as non-online daters.
